Founded in 1964 by Peruvian surfer Eduardo Arena, the International Surfing Federation (ISF) were the first entity to crown recognised surfing world champions. The ISF operated from '64 to '73, alongside the United States Surfing Association (USSA) and the 1966 champions were Nat Young of Australia, and Joyce Hoffman of USA. Glory days!
