Children's novel written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. Kansas farm girl Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado to the Land of Oz. There she meets a whole host of strange characters including witches, a scarecrow and a lion, while journeying down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. The most famous film adaptation is the The Wizard of Oz, produced by MGM and released in 1939, starring Judy Garland.
