Known for songs including 'Cross Road Blues' and 'Sweet Home Chicago,' he is surrounded by the legend that he sold his soul to the devil for his musical talent. His work influenced artists including Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton. Johnson had little commercial success or public recognition during his lifetime, and died in 1938, at the age of 27.Β
