Monterey Festival T-Shirt

The Monterey International Pop Festival was a pioneering three day music festival, held in June 1967, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in California. Considered to be the first major rock festival, it featured iconic performances from Jimi Hendrix (who famously set fire to his guitar), Janis Joplin, The Who, and Otis Redding. It was a non-profit event that defined the flower power, hippie movement and 'Summer of Love,' and set the template for future music festivals like Woodstock. Other acts that performed over the weekend include The Grateful Dead, Simon & Garfunkel and Buffalo Springfield.
