Hammersmith Palais T-Shirt
Legendary dance hall and music venue in West London, which hosted ballroom dancing, jazz, and major rock acts including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Clash. Opened in 1919 as the 'Palais de Danse,' it initially served as a ballroom, later hosting ice skating, ice hockey, and large social events. During WWII, it served as a vital community hub and wartime refuge, staying open through the Blitz to bolster morale and was popular with servicemen on leave. As musical tastes shifted, the venue transformed from a ballroom into a premier concert hall, and in the 90's, primarily operated as a nightclub. The final concert was performed by The Fall in April 2007, and the building was eventually demolished in 2012.Β
