AJPW is a professional wrestling promotion established in 1972 by wrestler Giant Baba. From the mid-1970s, All Japan was firmly established as the largest promotion in Japan. The 1990's were AJPW's most profitbale period, when new stars including Mitsuharu Misawa, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, Kenta Kobashi and Toshiaki Kawada became popular. All Japan has operated consistently since 1972, making it the second-longest running promotion in Japan.
